And After, H. Dennis Bradley - 1931, First Edition - Occult, Spiritualism

$225.00
From Weiser:

British-born Bradley recounts his experiences with Spiritualism, notably with the direct voice medium George Valiantine, of whom he was, for a time, an avid supporter. However, by the time that Bradley wrote "... And After" he had reached the conclusion that while Valiantine had once exhibited some genuine Mediumistic talents, these were now lost, and he was resorting to fraud. Bradley also included a chapter on his dealings with another American Medium, Mrs. Hamilton, whose cause was being championed by a London accountant, Robert Sproull. Sproull took exception to Bradley's comments and sued him for libel, apparently winning £500 damages. The book was then withdrawn from circulation by the publishers and is now quite scarce.
8vo Hardcover, 402pp. Black cloth over boards. Gilt titles on front cover and spine. Tips bumped/rubbed. Loss at head and toe of spine. Wear to cloth along spine edge/hinges. Binding is secure. Bar bookseller's pencil marks on inside covers, no other interior marks or foxing. All photographs/illustrations (21) present. Fair, reading copy.
